New Taipei City Art Meseum | Museum used to be a one-sided projector where viewers can only remain passive receiving information. However, the relationship of Museums and viewers has changed dramatically in the past few decades where the two can now exchange conversations through different kind of medium.
We need a change in museum design to reflect not only present condition but also look beyond to the future. We propose a new way of experiencing museum which can engage people just like taking a stroll under a beautiful day in a wonderful vacation island where every turn at the end of alleyway reveals yet another pleasant surprise. We propose a street-like tube structure with plazas and squares, steps and ramps. We believe to appreciate Art is to experience it with different perspective and angles. We believe in double or triple programing of space. We wanted to design a museum where it is not only a place to display, but to be lived. Therefore by creating a street, it will open up opportunities to be connecting to the urban fabrics both inside out and outside in. The display of art will no longer be one way directed, but two-way traffic. This museum will be a double sided, double programmed and open-ended building with full of potential.
